Battery died in the old Chrysler remote, so I put in new batteries and had to reprogram it. Takes about 10 seconds and a dealer charges about $100 and you don't need any equipment.
How do you reprogram a Chrysler? I remember in my Toyota Avalon, I hit the passenger door lock up and down 7 times. Crazy computers!
Another crazy move was most Jeep owners know there is a built in OBD#1 reader built into the ignition. Turn on accessory, foot on the brake, and toggle the key to on 3 times. The dash would flash the trouble codes automatically.
